The Fundred Dollar Bill Project, originated by artist Mel Chin, seeks to eliminate lead-contaminated soil in U.S. cities through a giant performance artwork. Individuals are asked to to draw a unique verison of the U.S. $100 bill; these "Fundred Dollar Bills" will be collected by a special armored truck and delivered to the U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C., where an even exchange of the value of their art currency for actual funds will be requested. The cause hits particularly close to home in St. Louis, one of the U.S. cities with the worst lead-contamination problems.
To encourage St. Louis citizens to support the project, the Sam Fox School is hosting the Fundred Dollar Draw In. During this four-hour event, people are encouraged to gather and draw their Fundred Dollar Bills. Pizza will be delivered at noon, and Mel Chin will join the group starting at 2:00pm.
